About Kylie
A true multipotentialite.
I started to DJ in order to provide a soundtrack for yoga events, never expecting to play beyond those environments – now I play all kinds of special events, corporate galas, weddings and venues up and down the west coast and beyond. My favourite kinds of tunes to play are disco and house but as a special event DJ I can play anything.
I’ve trained in both physiotherapy and psychology, using my knowledge to optimise the wellbeing of individuals and teams across a variety of industries and environments. As a physiotherapist, I directed my own practice in Melbourne for many years, consulted to national level athletes and the less athletic too, always taking a greater interest in optimising the overall person, rather than merely managing symptoms. Recently I have been applying my psychology training in workshops, talks and programs with clients from resources to first responders, optimising workplace wellbeing, through sharing science information.
I completed a certificate in clinical mindfulness, along with two other styles of meditation training and offer meditation instruction in the form of one-to-one sessions, workshops and learn to meditate courses. I still offer yoga instruction in both vinyasa and yin styles at events and workshops from time to time. This year I added breathwork facilitation to the modalities I offer, it provides wonderful pathways to assist in nervous system regulation. Lately I have returned to teaching Les Mills RPM, coming out of retirement to get back on the bike, which I didn’t think I would ever do!
I’m a regular keynote speaker around various aspects of human performance and behaviour, currently conducting research into the effect of work stress on our ability to pay attention (spoiler alert – it’s not great). I’m also a handy MC for events, secretly I love a handheld mic!
I live in Boorloo (Perth) with my partner, two step-children and a variety of indoor plants that I am managing to keep alive (mostly!).
